Ideal for loose topsoil, not incredibly rocky soil. Can handle some small rocks. Trencher wheels are not motor driven and will only allow backwards movement while the depth adjustment is set. If the chain stops moving while the machine is throttled up, please turn the machine off, (or else the belt could start to burn up) there is probably a rock stuck in the chain or something of that nature.
